The Institute for Research in Social Communication of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) is recruiting a researcher at R2 level (PhD holders, or applicants close to PhD completion), starting from 15 February 2026 (or by agreement), on a fixed-term contract until 31 January 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on project funding. This recruitment aims to ensure continuity of an ongoing project.
We are a leading research institute in Slovakia, focusing on social and educational psychology (see https://uvsk.sav.sk/en). In 2022, we were rated as one of Europe’s top performers in an international evaluation of SAS.
Eligibility: The applicant must have attained a PhD. in psychology, or be in the final stage of their doctoral studies with a planned defence in the near future. We are looking for colleagues with an interest in self-regulated learning and complex problem-solving.
The successful candidate should be proficient in advanced mathematical and statistical methods. They should also have a proven record of scholarly publication, including outputs in WOS/Scopus journals and outputs in English. Experience with research stays abroad is an advantage. A minimum B2 level of English is required. Ability to work with Slovak (or Czech) language materials is expected (at least at the level needed for research instruments and professional texts). The ability to work independently as well as in a scientific team is also expected. Experience in preparing grant applications for national and international project schemes is an advantage.

The starting gross monthly salary will be set in accordance with Slovak Law No553/2003, depending on qualifications and length of experience (in salary scales 7 or 8 it is a minimum of 1367,5 or 1466,5 EUR). We offer performance bonuses based on publication outputs.
