Our institute participated in an inter-institutional research project whose findings are presented in the newly published study “People from Ukraine in Slovakia: Life, Integration, Perspectives.” The publication offers up-to-date insights into the lives of people from Ukraine who came to Slovakia after the outbreak of war in 2022.
The research focused on various aspects of everyday life — housing, employment, children’s education, interaction with Slovak society, language adaptation, and future plans.
Our colleagues specifically contributed to chapters on:
- Family, care, social networks, and community support
- The integration of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia and its psychological dimensions
The publication was co-authored by researchers from several institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences:
- Institute for Sociology, SAS
(Miloslav Bahna, Petr Mezihorák) - Institute of Social Sciences, Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences SAS
(Denisa Fedáková, Michal Kentoš, Jana Papcunová) - Institute for Research in Social Communication, SAS
(Barbara Lášticová, Zuzana Očenášová, Magda Petrjánošová, Xenia Daniela Poslon, Tomáš Prošek) - Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology, SAS

We hope that the findings of this research will contribute to a better understanding of the needs and experiences of people affected by forced migration, and help shape more effective and empathetic integration policies in Slovakia.
